Neocaridinas are a fantastic beginner shrimp as they can handle quite a wide range of water parameters, from the slightly acidic soft water to fairly alkali hard water. This is a useful feature of the species as it means there’s less risk of problems with molting than with some other species.
This species comes in quite a wide range of colours: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, clear, etc. However, unlike the Caridina, if you allow breeding between multiple different colours you won’t usually get children that are a blend of their parents’ colours. Instead, they’ll normally revert closer to a “wild type” shrimp which looks like slightly translucent with brown spots.
If you want your shrimp to keep their strong colours, it’s probably for the best to pick a single colour for each tank.
